I have a client that has just install Sophos antivirus software (Version 11.5.4) with MS and PD V8i SS3. Within the client the Sophos has a server and client module. All sounds great and the company is protected. However, this has had a MASSIVE impact on the speed of MicroStation. Prior to this Sophos all was great. However, now we can clearly see each PC hang for 3-5 seconds ever so often ie every 2-5 minutes, in some cases it hangs for over 30 seconds.
Running a few tests, we found there are no real pattern to the timings. We have checked the backups, the scan timing and nothing is active. But Sophos is STOPPING MS from working. We can turn off the client protection and its fast again. BUT we need the PC protected.
The workspace is located on a central server via a mapped drive.
Automatic saving is active
We are about to trial the Autosaving option as OFF, but this is not how MS is designed to work.
We can copy the workspace to the local C drive and reconfig how it is linked, but this not going to happen yet, as it is a big task.
So there must be something within Sophos that is being checked between the server and client that restricts MS... but what?
