Database connection

I'm not sure, but I know that Microstation V7 is very old (in computer years) technology. It's possible that may be a version of Oracle that it can't read.

I agree with Mary: MicroStation/J is really old piece of software not developed and certified for today used Windows. Even the latest MicroStation 7.2 was certified for Windows 2000 only, so when used in newer Windows environment (which has to be used because of Oracle 12c client), the functionality is not guaranteed.

What Windows version do you use?

I think "System fault 5" means access memory violation, in other words the application tries to access memory that does not own. My assumption is it's caused by (in)compatibility between old MicroStation dlls and newer Windows ODBC subsystem or Oracle client dlls.

Can any one suggest what is the compatible environment for V7 and what version of Oracle will support it?

It's defined in MicroStation/J readme file. I have no MicroStation/J installed, but I am quite sure it's Windows 2000 and older.

Sorry, have no idea, I guess you should ask in Oracle forum.

But it depends also on Oracle database version. I am not Oracle expert, but what I know is that not every combination of client version and database version is supported (probably Oracle 7 client will not work with Oracle 12c) and some combinations have to configured explicitely.

One more note: In MicroStation/J readme file, there should be also information about supported databases (both ODBC and direct acceess), so you should to check this document at first.
