I'm preparing for the future and trying to learn the setup of CONNECT Edition products. I am expecting to have both OpenRoads Designer and PowerDraft CONNECT users. Can these share the same WorkSpaces folder on a network? I have tried setting it up using the folders from OpenRoads and I'm actually using MicroStation CONNECT on my computer instead of PowerDraft, but there is a problem. When I start MicroStation it pops up a Text Window with a list of macro files it can't open from the Training and Examples configs that were supplied with OpenRoads.
I suppose I could remove the Training and Examples folder from the network, but I would like the users to have access to those files to learn from and it concerns me that there might be other problems with the shared WorkSpaces. Since we will be working on the same projects with both programs I'd rather not have to maintain 2 separate WorkSpaces for every project if possible.
Anyone have any insight on this? I have removed the Training and Examples folder from the network and it looks like it's still accessible from the hard drive so that is good. I am having trouble getting OpenRoads to see the Organization-Civil folder I have put on the network. I have started a new thread dealing with that issue hoping someone can help figure this out so can start trying to use the software.
Hi Ryan,
We have designed the CONNECT Edition Configuration to use the local instance of the example/training Workspaces provided, with only the organization specific WorkSpace(s) located on the network. The idea being each user has a local sandbox rather than training/playing around with a shared resource. CONNECT Edition training materials, SIG events, etc. generally use these examples rather than requiring course specific downloads.

Thanks, I figured that out after removing the Training and Examples folder from the network location and seeing that it's still found on the local drive. One thing I don't like right now is that Power Draft is finding the "Organization-Civil" folder on the network.
Is there an easy way to exclude PowerDraft from looking at the Organization-Civil folder? I have feature libraries set up in there with level maps specific to OpenRoads Designer that PowerDraft user don't need to see.
