Edit the modifiction tab in Connect

Hello

I'm trying to configure the interface for AECOsim building designer, connect edition. I've edited the ribbon for it to fit our company's purposes. Now I would like to edit the modification tab (modify selected) that shows up automatically when selecting an element. Seems it's the same no matter what workflow your in. How can I do that?

  • The Modify Selected tab that activates is stored in a .rsc file and is not editable.

  • Ok, that's to bad. You really make it hard to use shortcuts for all the commands in the connect-version.

I don't quite understand how the problem with ContextualTab customization makes hard to use shortcuts (where you can choose between old-style Position Mapping and "ribbon native" key-tips, so there is even some level of freedom ;-).

I did not do any hands on testing (because it requires too much time), but I guess there is a way / workaround. It would be possible to define own ContextualTab (unfortunately there is no user-oriented tool and the definition has to be created as xml file) and the original one can be replaced by the own one (not sure whether the full replacement is possible).

    With regards,

  • Hi

Thanks for replying. I saw your reply here as well: Attrubutes and primary

Once again, I mean position mapping, not shortcuts. So what I mean is there is no great way to work with posting mapping across the program. There is like there where in v8i (or at least I can't find it) a smooth way to make sure that move, copy or measure distance always is at a certain, what should I say, "keystroke". (What I mean is, I'm used to having the main tasks, which is essentially all basic commands, and they're following me around. No matter what task workflow I had in v8i, the select, manipulate, modify groups always followed, and where always at the same keystroke Eg. 3-1 for copy. Now, with the ribbon, it seems something like this is more needed than ever, cause how often did we change task workflow compered to how often we will need to change tab, but the whole main task-thing is gone.)

It worked well for me, creating my own workflow in connect, and have all the essential things in one tab, until I came to the modification tab. And because I can not change it, I'm not able the use the same keystroke to move something if I select i first, and then try to move it, as if I select the move tool first, and then the element. And just to have it mentioned, should I really need to press 3 keys to move something, shouldn't two be enough?
