SS2 to SS4 XML Menu issue

I have taken over as the MicroStation admin.  The position has been passed from person to person, all whom really didn't have any previous experience.

We are upgrading to SS4 (it's the newest version compatible to Descartes, so this is the highest we can upgrade to at this point.) and it seems as though our custom menus are not loading and are also deleting normal MicroStation menus.  The "Main" menu is loading blank and the delete icon and selection icon are MIA.  The previous admin set them up to load from an XML file instead of placing them into the dgnlib.  I have read on here that these XML files are not compatible after SS2.

My question is, does anyone have a quick trick to update these to be compatible?  I eventually will update all of this to go into the dgnlib, but right now I need to have users start testing our custom tools while I am working on the configuration side.

  • Our menus are loaded with a makeshift interface, pcf file and ufc file (this is where it defines the file and directory for the Tasks.xml) inside a batch file that is disguised as a Descartes executable.  Eventually I have to fix this set up, but I just need to get our tools and menus to load first.  I have been able to move files around and realized today that there is something in one of those 3 files that is screwing up the interface as when I open the dgnlib in the GUI directory without our interface and import the XML, everything is correct, but then when the executable loads the interface, it's not correct and critical MicroStation tools are missing.
