I was wondering if I can change the the tool that is displayed upon opening microstation

The only options on start up are for the active tool to be 'selection' or 'none' in V8i and CONNECT Edition.

If you want a particular tool to always be displayed in the pre-V8i Main Tool Frame I think you will need to look into the customization features.

Thanks Marc Thomas, I guess my screen shot has everybody thinking I am using an old version. The version I am using v8i SS4 ver 08.11.09.832

I really don't like the new look and haven't since it cam out. Since it all works the same I have kept microstation looking like something I am comfortable with one big reason I am waiting to move to connect (I have read too many complaints just out of the box) So I'll just wait until I can read more (or less) complaints.

I agree with Marc that such feature is not available in MicroStation and it would require some customization.

In such case, don't install CONNECT Edition ;-)

Keep in mind that confused or disappointed user will probably share his problem and will write the post, whereas a user without problems will probably write no post. It does not mean the problems do not exist in CONNECT Edition, but I know user who migrated to CE without bigger issues, simply because they (luckily) work with tools and data well supported by current version of CONNECT Edition.
