We're running Microstation V8i and several Windows 7 and 10 workstations. One of the engineers who uses the application says they need to have local admin rights to use Microstation, but I'm not sure if that's the case.I would like to remove local admin rights if it's not necessary. Can anyone shed some light on this?
MicroStation itself is required to be Installed as an Admin( this is stated in the readme) However once the product is installed the user can be a general user but there are some folders and files that MicroStation will need to read and write to. Can you be more specific on what the user actually needs admin rights for ?
Melissa hi,
I quickly describe my situation: for some strange reason Network Distributed Rendering (NDR) start asking permissions for admin rights on the local machine. Without admin rights it does not start.
We use Mstn v8i SS4, and OS Win 10 Pro
Because of that error, I have requested local admin rights on my work PC... Are there any specific information that I need to look into to describe the situation to our IT personnel, so they could fix the issue.

Does the NDR start and then ask for permissions or does it ask prior to running and does not open?
If its after the shared render directory may require admin privileges.
You can refer to the following article on how to setup the Distributed Render:
