Hey Everybody,

since last week a new Firmware built is available. It is the version 4.3.6.0883.

The Development team told me that this version should fixed our issue, but it doesn't!

I have installed it last week and it is still possible, that different user can open a dgn file in parallel.

I have gave this issue back to the QNAP support, and they have forwarded it back to the development team.

And again they promised that it will fixed with the next update.....

So we still have to wait.... :-(

a few minutes ago, I have received a feedback from QNAP.

The development team says, that our issue should be solved with firmware version 20190311-4.3.6.0878, which will be released within the next weeks.

The actuall "new" update is Version 4.3.6.0875. So we still have to wait a little bit.

The question to ask of QNAP is whether they have changed anything about windows file sharing protocols in their latest firmware, SMB for instance (I am not an expert on these by the way, so this is a generalised suggestion!).

If they can identify specific changes in that area we can run them by the development team for more informed comment.

Hey everybody, we have the same issue with our QNAP NAS. It has definitly started with the last Firmwareupdate from QNAP. I was able to reconstruct this with a spare NAS. We have also contacted the QNAP support and we are still waiting for a Response. The support had forwarded the issue to the Research Team.

We would like to Downgrade the Firmware, but we are a little bit afraid. If somebody gone this way without any Problems, please let us know.

My boss is not agree to downgrade the firmware for the moment.

He has set the QNAP to use SMB 1 only, SMBv2 only, it's not working.

Something is wrong with Oplocks.

Hi Jon,

Thank you for your input.

I am aware of the limitations of the majority of NAS devices with regards to the protocol stack. However, this NAS has been in use for a number of years now and nothing has changed on it apart from firmware updates (after which there have been no issues). The problem I am reporting literally started earlier this week.

I suppose what I should have asked if there was any MicroStation PowerDraft configuration variable that would control file locking? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I know some applications do control file locking themselves.

Not all NAS devices implement a full IEEE protocol stack. Caveat emptor!

Test before you buy.
