Hi I am using Bentley viewer to view .Dgn files. Every time I open viewer, the default path set to "My Documents". I want to change it to my working folder. How can I do that?
By default the application should return to the last place you open a file. If this isn't happening something is a miss.
Going deeper all of Bentleys PowerPlatform based products (View, PowerDraft, MSTN, ORD, AECOSim, etc) have a configuration that controls them. The configuration has different levels where variables may be defined to control the application. The variable MS_DEF controls the default file open location. This can be set at any level in the configuration.

yep
Which version are you using? We have just released Bentley View CONNECT Edition.
As John says, Bentley View will remember the last folder where you opened a file.
Are you using Bentley View only or alongside other Bentley applications?
Marc
I am using only Bentley view CONNECT edition to view *.dgn files which are generated from other software. Whenever I open the viewer it direct to "My documents" folder by default, not even the last folder where I open a file.
Hi John, Thanks for your reply. Can I edit the variable in which the default path is defined and change it to the desired one? If yes, how can I do it?
As Bentley View is intended to be a simple viewing tool the configuration editor is not included.
s you are only using Bentley View using No WorkSpace/No WorkSet (as shown below) is the appropriate choice.
CONNECT Edition should remember the last folder that you opened a file from and it should build up a recent folders list of up to 10 items in the File Open dialog (use Ctrl + O to get to this quickly):
This history please is stored in the preferences folders at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Bentley\View\10.0.0, please check that folder and contents exist.
