Sounds like a simple question

I have a question. In working on configurations here and there, I was wondering something. In some cases I have been relegated to using PCF files and not knowing why I just go along the way "they" want. I have had to make my own tweaks in my ucf to get things working right (for me). But I recently had to fix a configuration that was looking for ms_fontpath but it could not be found so Microstation exited. I looked at the users ucf and saw that it had a specific font path set so I commented it out and things worked as expected. BTW, this was happening on a different computer. Anyway, the user (and myself) wonders why his ucf works fine on his computer with the font path uncommented.

Any information is welcome

Thank you

  • Additionally, one common mistake i see with MS_FONTPATH is people putting *.rsc or *.ttf at the end of the line. Don't do that, Just point to the path and the rsc, ttf and shx files will automatically be found.

If possible I separate linestyle rsc files into one folder, and all the fonts (rsc or otherwise) into another folder. Then I point MS_SYMBRSRC at just the line styles, and use MS_FONTPATH to get all the fonts. I try to avoid pointing to the same font files twice.
