[CE Update 12] Print Styles not showing up.

I'm working on a configuration in MicroStation CE Update 12. I've tried multiple things but cannot get the Print Styles to show up in the Print Styles dialog.

In this particular case I have two Print Style dgnlibs defined at the WorkSpace level. There are no other Print Styles defined in the configuration. The Print Styles were created in V8i SS4 and moved to CE. When I open the dgnlib files directly in MicroStation the Print Styles defined in the dgnlibs display correctly. When I open a dgn from a WorkSet within the WorkSpace no Print Styles are available.

I've tried different combinations of defining the path to the Print Style dgnlib files using MS_DGNLIBLIST and MS_DGNLIBLIST_PRINTING. I even tried selecting the two dgnlib files from the Configuration Variables dialog when updating the MS_DGNLIBLIST and MS_DGNLIBLIST_PRINTING variables. They were added to my Personal.ucf file as expected, but still did not show up in the Print Styles dialog after restarting MicroStation.  I've used the -debug switch to start MicroStation many times during this process to verify that path to my Print Style dgnlibs is defined and nothing is over writing it.

I'm open to ideas and suggestions at this point.

Thanks.

  • After doing further testing on this I am convinced it is a MicroStation problem, and nothing in my configuration.

Setting the configuration to No WorkSpace I saw that the MS_DGNLIBLIST_PRINTING variable is set to C:\Program Files\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\MicroStation\Default\Dgnlib\Printing\*.dgnlib

I copied the print style dgnlibs to that folder, closed MicroStation, restarted and opened a new dgn file created in No WorkSpace. The print styles still do not show up in the Print Styles dialog. I get the same result in OpenRoads Designer.

  • The problem has been resolved, and according to the Bentley tech this works as designed.

If you select File > Print > Print Styles only the Print Styles defined in the active file are displayed. The Print Styles populate as expected in the Print and Print Organizer dialogs.
