Hi,
I keep my ribbon minimized. I have multiple custom tools that I have added to the Microstation V8i (SS3) pull-down menu and to the Microstation Connect Ribbon. In Microstation V8i, I have several sub-menus that work very well. In Microstation Connect, I have had to split these out into multiple ribbon tabss (some of them with additional pull-down tools). The increased number of tabs makes it harder to find the one that you want immediately.
Is there anyway to add color to the ribbon tab labels? Either a background color or a text color? Would this be useful for anyone?
Of course the alternate would be to provide an option for a pull-down menu...

This is what my screen looks like:
tabs are not customizable in that fashion.
If you are looking for an alternative to pull down menus see the following:

Hi David,
I am trying to make the best of what we have. I have already "migrated" my menus from V8i to CE. I am just trying to find ways to make CE less frustrating and more production.

Not an answer, but if you use the "Task Navigation" interface instead of "Drawing", you have less pull-downs to deal with. This is what I did, I did need to create a bit of custom ribbon to add 8 or 10 common commands not available in Task Nav. It took me a few weeks to get the UI satisfactory with ribbon. At first I thought I might need a 3rd monitor. I found the edge docked tools helped for thrings like, models, reference, levels, etc.

Hi Bob,
Nice screen shot. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who tries to work with a minimized ribbon. I do have three screens on my system. I use two for Microstation and one for auxiliary programs. I also wind up using virtual desktops to run more applications and switch between Microstation sessions. But I'm leaving the topic at hand...
I like your edge-docked tools. Most of those I either have opened on the second screen, or I have pull-down access through my docked "Primary Tools" toolbar. As far as minimizing the number of items on the ribbon, I would like avoid that. I really don't want to have to switch ribbons (task vs drawing vs custom...) to get to tools. The tools should be at my finger-tips for easy "discoverability", not hidden deep in the system.
Thanks for the suggestions, and the screen shot.
I use the Search Ribbon tool, upper right, for discoverability. For some, Task Navigation is just too brief.
Warning- There are issues with hiding the ribbon and the edge docked tools. Connect is a long way from a finished product.
