HI, we are using a legacy software that is running in Microstation J, unfortunately the developer is already gone it is still working as of this writing. But We are concerned if Microstation J will still be supported in the future.
I would like to confirm until when the Microstation J be useable, given the fact that several new versions has come already.
Thanks,
Matt
Hi Matthew,

MicroStation/J has not been supported by Bentley for many (many many many) years. In fact, the only supported version from the next year will be CONNECT Edition, plus the latest V8i (SELECTseries 10) version will be in "expiring support" mode. Any older version (including older V8i releases) will be not supported.

"Usable" and "supported" are quite different things. MicroStation/J can be usable for next few years without any issues, but nobody will confirm it, because it's not supported, so the usability / functionality is not ensured.

It's not about "new versions" only, it's better to say several "generations" ... new format (DGN V8), new GUI concepts (V8i, V8 XM Edition + V8i, CONNECT Edition) and new APIs (64bit CONNECT Edition API). Maybe it's not wrong to say /J and CE are different products, accidentally using the same name and some concepts? ;-)

As Jan pointed out MS/J is not a supported software, you can refer to our Support Policy as to which versions currently have support.
It would be strongly recommended you start looking into upgrading to the latest version, for assistance in planning see:

Can you be more specific? Perhaps there is an alternative app that works with a supported version of MicroStation?
