Hi,
Trying to setup uStation the way users like and running into some issues with key-ins assigned to function keys:
1. Place text - does not open up text window like the place text button, instead it puts a "TEXT:" prompt in the key-in/command line box. How do we get a key-in to act like the button?
2. What is the key-in for changing the fence mode?
3. What is the key-in for setting the text justification?
Thanks
One important bit of information - which product and version are you using (including the version number)? That could make quite a difference as some key-ins have "evolved" over time.
One way to learn about key-ins is to use the Key-In Browser, although that may not be the most straightforward tool if you aren't sure what you are looking for.
You can always record a short VBA macro - that will capture the key-ins for the commands you use.
The Help file IN V8i actually a key-in index that you can use to search for key-ins. That's where I found:
LOCK FENCE INSIDE to set the fence selection mode to inside. Other options would be CLIP, OUTSIDE or OVERLAP

Thanks, that worked for the fence locks. I'm using uStation Connect update 13. I couldn't find a key-in list. I had tried the key-in browser, but you need the first word to start and I always think of the fence locks as fence modes, so it didn't occur to me to look at locks.
Hi David,
my supplement to Mary's answer:
David Silverman said:1. Place text - does not open up text window like the place text button
Yes, it's thew difference between place text and texteditor place key-ins.
place text
texteditor place
David Silverman said:2. What is the key-in for changing the fence mode?
In addition to the key-in mentioned by Mary, I recommend also to ensure the fence will be used by the tool. It's what set item toolsettings key-in is for.
set item toolsettings
Example: When assigned to F-key, the key-in (precisely it's key-ins chain) for copy element using fence inside clipping will be copy element; set item toolsettings usefencetoggle=1;lock fence clip;set item toolsettings copies=1.
copy element; set item toolsettings usefencetoggle=1;lock fence clip;set item toolsettings copies=1
For more details about this key-in, see e.g. this or this wiki article.
David Silverman said:3. What is the key-in for setting the text justification?
It depends on where (using what tool) you want to set the justification.
When text is placed (using e.g. Text Editor dialog), the justification is defined by active text style, so available key-ins start with textstyleset.
textstyleset
To specify one line justification, use e.g. textstyleset singlelinejust centercenter. But to use pre-defined text style and do not use ad-hoc (Style (none)) parameters is recommended.
textstyleset singlelinejust centercenter
