Hi
I've made some changes to the user preferences I want to distribute to all our users in an easy way.
I read here that the upf should always be deleted before a product upgrade, so there should be an easy way to do this?https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/13452/troubleshooting-user-preferences-issues
And I also read here on a way to distribute the upf:https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/33635/distribute-standard-user-preferences
But this will never work in an organization. Getting all users to follow those steps is impossible.
I found something here about MS_ALWAYS_CREATE_UPF but I don't get it to work with connect edition, is that variable not valid anymore? https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/askinga/1002/1002
Also, using the default-button in the preference-dialog don't seem to use the file defined by the MS_USERPREFSEED variable?
Is there maybe a keyin or a short vba-command to restore the user preference from the default.
I guess my last option will be to direct the MS_userpref variable to a read-only localtion to make sure I can controll these settings.
Running OBD CE update 8 (MS CE U15)

When you launch MicroStation or ORD there is a -RestoreDefaults switch you can put on the command line. I would assume OBD has the same switch.

Ok. So will that restroe to the same file the default-button do? Or will it use my seed-upf?
Is there an easy way to force everyone to use that command?
The easiest way is probably to make a custom MicroStation Windows shortcut that contains that switch.
This will remove everything from the user's C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Bentley\MicroStation\10.0.0\prefs folder. The next time they launch MicroStation without that switch all of the defaults will be copied in according to your configuration.
If you're worried about removing all of the users' customizations a simple Windows batch file that copies the new upf file may be the answer.
