I'm trying to follow the steps shown in the help document regarding upgrading existing PCF files:
https://docs.bentley.com/LiveContent/web/OpenBuildings%20Designer%20Help-v4/en/GUID-9B0F78CB-DEFE-41E7-BC3A-4E7B47D3F381.html
And I just couldn't understand the instructions:
Projects created in previous editions of OpenBuildings Designer need to be upgraded to WorkSets. Use the following steps to upgrade a set of .pcf files to WorkSets (.cfg) using key-in:
Best regards,

I agree, this help section is unclear and the upgrade instructions pre-date the introduction of the Configuration Assistant:
Having said that, the configuration assistant is really only viable for smaller organisations and would not produce appropriate results for a larger organisation. The WorkSet CFG files that result will contain all of the variables required for a functioning WorkSet but none of the structure that helps with future maintenance.
Can you post a copy (here or via SR) of an existing PCF for us to take a look at?
Marc
Thanks Marc, I don't have the liberty to share the PCFs. But if you can do a sample run on OOT ABD SS6 pcfs as that's the backbone our PCFs were based on.
Also, is there anything in development for admin training/documentation? Because clearly "Help" is no where near the level of commercial ready, and I have more wiki bookmarks than I'm able to organise and maintain.
In that case there may not be much to do with your PCFs, OBD WorkSet CFGs are almost identically structured to V8i. The changes are primarily where V8i variables have to be replaced with their CE equivalents and new functionality has been added and some obsolete statements have been removed.
I'd suggest identifying any differences between a delivered PCF and your own, then compare with the CE equivalents.
A training link is in your other thread, we are working on further guidance which from my point of view will include updating blogs and wikis I wrote some time ago.
right, thanks Marc. So pretty much a manual exercise outside of OBD program? Little value to utilise the PROJECT UPGRADEALLTOWORKSETS keyin or Configuration Assistant?
The have their place for, generally for someone in a hurry in my view, but they really only defer the point at which the CE configuration needs to be properly reviewed and organised.
The key is to get the CE structure right and wherever possible be consistent across projects regarding folder structures so as much configuration as possible can be done at the Organization or WorkSpace levels.
