MicroStation v10.17.02.61 and some machines on slightly older versions
I have installed the Autodesk NWC export from MicroStation on my computer and it does the job required, I now need to get this to work for all the other users. The method of installation I used is covered here.Exporting Navisworks file from OpenBuildings Designer
I do not want to copy the files to the program files folder on every computer due to security implications.
I have tried copying the files to our network configuration in the MS_MDLAPS folder but when someone else runs the MDL it can't find the supporting files all in the same foldersI set The variables as below but still does not work.MS_ADDINPATH > $(_USTN_ORGANIZATION)mdlapps/MS_ADDIN_DEPENDENCYPATH > $(MS_ADDINPATH)nwcreate_data20
Is there a way to overcome this issue.
Regards,John Davidson
If you have a shared network location you should be able to place the mdl and associated dll files on the network and edit the MS_MDLAPPS variable to search that location.

Running MDL Applications
the latest NavisworksExporters installer will need to be run on all PCs for the exporter to work properly. Prior versions of the NavisworksExporters allowed for copy/paste required files between PCs without running installation. But newer versions required proper installation of the exporter as well as copy/paste required files for OBD to export correctly.
I could be wrong, but the last time we tried that with NavisworksExporters2023.exe, we found that simply pointing to the 4 required files/folders doesn't work without running the installer beforehand.
I have resolved this by adding into the configuration the variable pointing to where Windows can find .dll files. as well as the MDL app being in the MS_MDLAPPS path.
MS_MDLAPPS < $(_USTN_ORGANIZATION)mdlapps/ # Organization MDLAPPS
MS_LIBRARY_PATH > $(_USTN_ORGANIZATION)mdlapps/ # Finds dlls associated with MDL's
