Why are my configuration variables for ProjectWise workspace not saving?

I am making changes to my configuration variables.

How are you making the changes?

1. Editing a config file with a text editor? (Which file & is it in PW?)
2. Using the configuration dialog in ORD?
3. modifying a Confguration Setting Block with ProjectWise Administrator?

1. Using the configuration dialog in ORD?

Im using the ORD configuration dialog.

The ORD dialog only saves variables to the Personal.ucf file. However managed workspaces, although they set the _USTN_USERCFG variable to point at the personal.ucf the file isn't actually loaded so no changes made in that file will load.

For a managed workspace to change variables you really need to use one of the other 2 methods of editing a config file that is loaded from ProjectWise or modify a Configuration Settings Block in Administrator.

Some ProjectWise administrators also allow users to create their own variables inside of ProjectWise. If in ProjectWise Explorer you go to Tools menu and select Options. If you see a tab in the dialog called Personal WorkSpace you can set variables in there too.
