I just bought some logitech g300 mice and would like to map the extra buttons in MicroStation for various commands and/or key-strokes. When I'm in the Button Mapping dialog, MicroStation only recognizes the mouse's buttons #4 and #5. When I click on the "Button Definition Area" with the #6, 7, 8, or 9 button, nothing happens. Anyone else have any success with mapping extra buttons for this, or any other mice?
I'm running ABD 8.11.09.704 (although I have the same problems in SS4 & SS3) on,
Windows 7
Kind Regards,

Hi,
Here's the trick in my office. Have the buttons on the mouse assigned to send a keystroke of a modified-F key stroke (like Ctrl-Shift-F12). Then have the Microstation function keys assigned to the correct key-in to execute the command that you want.

Just like I did with the space explorer (translate the german STRG+ALT+F1 to CTRL+ALT+F1 - just a typo)
I have 5 button wireless ms mouse... and I use the x3 for fit view, x4 to place fence by element and print to pdf... I use these 2 features more than any other throughout the day... to try to do more is just too much to remember...
I have used the alt +LMB, cont+LMB , shift + LMB even these are too many to remember..( I cant label the mouse!)
my mouse mat used to have these listed but it wore off.... I tend to use the Alt LMB and the hold RMB the most often...
I also use the hold down RMB menu all the time ( great time saver) and also modified this to include BRING TO FRONT all the time present in RBM for the rest of productivity sake I have remapped all the F keys and their combo's and because its somany I need a paper / card overlay over the keyboard F keys to remind me what they all do...
and because I have worked in multi discipline offices with many repetitive work flows I have created separate F key.mnu files ie elect.mnu, mapping.mnu, archi.mnu, detailing.mnu and my basic everyday one default.mnu...
Each has its own paper Keyboard overlay... stickers just weren't enough and paper look up lists, post it notes etc just dont cut it...
I used to use a 16 button puck and digitiser way back in mtn95 but I had to keep consulting the list to remember what any more than the 3 buttons I used the most after data, reset, tent so only 6 out of 16 were remembered the rest were a list on paper which I feel a custom menu on digitiser would have been better... for visual prompts...
so you convinced yet?
