We are trying to standardize our Microstation V8i configs, so each office is using the same set of support files for plotting, levels, colors, linestyles, etc. With past employers, my workstation was always set to point to the server for files relating to standards. One of our users says this is impossible & all files must be on each local computer, which he says would take up to 2 weeks of work for each new project to set up standards which makes no sense to me. Where can I find correct procedures in BE?
It's not clear to me, why you want to confirm to a single user. There is an administration section in the help file which describes the possibilities (Setting up projects/Worspaces). The only change that was propagated by Bentley in the last years, was to keep the _USTN_HOMEROOT local (see 'Directory for Local Data' in the help) Anything else might still be on a network drive, where we suggest to keep even the workspace\system directory local to provide support for different subversions (i.e. german + english) with the same standard drive. There are some thousands of users outside which should work with company standards, it makes no sense to place all this stuff local.

thanks Bear, I have only the administrators and programmers forums on my subsription, so the one in the MicroStation was not seen :)
No probs.
I attempted to delete my original post in here three times yesterday and moved it to MicroStation, and it kept appearing in Admin also ... My Apologies! - Sherrie
Yes, Bear ... I had attempted to remove my post here in Admin and thought I had done so, but it kept showing back up. My apologies ... My "real" post is as you linked above.
