A Remote that was synchronizing and downloading without problem in the past is experiencing failure on download. Kicks off, runs a while then fails.
Get message: An error occurred while synchronizing: Import process failed
Synchronization error details reference - timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
In this instance, we found that the problem is that the download package is getting too large. The original, out of the box package is being used, rooted high in the asset hierarchy, and without addition of any filters.
Out of the box, the package structure starts at the asset identified on the remote computer and includes the following data:
This can become a huge amount of data over time, as it includes all work items, not just new ones.
Less data = smaller package = less time to download
Consideration should be given to appropriate filters, as well as top assets to root the package on to keep the download package as stealthy as possible.
Example of filters that can be added, if it works for your business:
Tasks for the selected assets WOStatus Not in list (Completed, Rejected, Cancelled, Closed)
Checksheets for the selected assets ChecksheetStatus Is not Processed
