We have linked a parent asset to a 3D drawing object. So for example as shown below A is a parent asset and it has B and C as child in asset hierarchy.
Parent asset AChild asset BChild asset C
We have linked A to the 3D drawing object. Our observation is whenever indicator is going in alarm state for asset A, the asset object in 3D drawing shows red colour (after we click ‘show alarms’).But if any indicator of B or C asset is going in alarm state, then 3D drawing object linked to its parent A is not showing red colour (after we click ‘show alarms’).
After we select 3D drawing object linked to Asset A and click “Open in APM” the new window of linked item shows Asset A along with its childs B and C. It also shows all indicators of B and C and its alarm states too. But the alarm state of these child assets is not propagating to 3D drawing object and it is not turning red.
Indicator alarms propagate through the hierarchy (and through 3D drawings because they relate to the hierarchy) based on the alarm's ranking. There is a setting which determines what value of alarm ranking propagates child level asset alarms to their parent and entire branch of the asset hierarchy. To find this setting, go to the Inspection Management view > Settings tab > Indicators subtab > Alarm Types page. Find the setting called "Minimum alarm notification ranking found at <sitename>" at the bottom of the Alarm types page. The way the setting works is that that alarms with a ranking below the selected value will not propagate to their parents and ancestor levels of the hierarchy.
