User was experiencing a problem accessing the APM Application server. The server had gone stale due to deadlocks created in the database. User had taken a dump file for analysis.
Upon investigation of the dump file, it was found that the user had tried opening multi-selecting several indicators and opening them at the same time. This lead to deadlocks in the database which ultimately showed as a stale server.
Restarting all APM services at the same time removed the deadlocks resolving the immediate problem.
The bug leading to deadlocks via multi-selecting indicators and opening them concurrently has been reported as a bug, VSTS#326836. The workaround is to open indicators one at a time and to restart all APM services should other deadlocks be generated in the manner.
