While troubleshooting an unrelated issue, user found that all of their services were reporting the following error:
2021-10-26 15:30:47.6177Z Error DOMAINNAME\ServiceName$ Ivara.PL.LicensingController [6] Unable to get Ultimate ID
This lead the user to believe that their instances were not connecting properly and that they were experiencing licensing issues.
The error itself does not effect the running of the services but does lead to confusion. It appears to only be the case when the user is running the service from a VM that not on the domain. This was reported as VSTS #735167.
The workaround is to run the service as a console one time. This will set the Ultimate ID in the settings; alternately, you can enter the Ultimate ID manually in the settings. Note that you need to do this for each server instance.
