Repetitive Checksheets seem to disappear from APM Mobile Inspection during synchronization

Problem Description

Post upgrade to APM release 7.17 and APM Mobile Inspection release 2.1.1 (IOS), a user reported that immediately after uploading a completed checksheet from APM Mobile Inspections, the checksheet was removed from the tablet even though the checksheet was set as a Repetitive Task.

Checksheet functionality has changed significantly since APM release 7.14 and APM Mobile Inspection 1.x+. Behaviors that were well known suddenly seem to be very different post upgrade from a previous version of APM and Mobile Inspections.

Solution

In older releases of APM and APM Mobile Inspections, repetitive task Activities remained on the mobile device and checksheet objects were created on upload.

As of APM release 7.15+ and APM Mobile Inspection 2.0+, mobile activity and associated checksheets are handled in pairs.  Not only are they created at the same time, they are downloaded and uploaded at the same.  This coupling, and related processing changes, have been implemented to support new functionality such as:

One of the resulting and most noticeable impacts is on upload of a Repetitive Mobile Activity.  The Mobile Activity will disappear from the Mobile when uploading the Activity.  Once the Activity’s current checksheet is processed, the Repetitive Activity with a new blank checksheet will be ready for download to the device.  There may be a short delay processing the checksheets depending on environment settings (default processing interval is 15 minutes).

An alternate to using Repetitive Tasks for managing Operator Inspections is to trigger Checksheet generation from Standard Task, without Work Order.  Similar to PM Generation, the checksheets can be generated to a horizon, and days in the future to download is controlled on the device definition.  This creates one-time activities on the Mobile instead of repetitive.  NOTE: This requires activating Feature 000051.  Here is an Overview/instructions for this feature.
