Problem Description

While creating a custom UI panel, user found that when setting set an attribute property for a reference field in the forms editor, the forms editor and thick client would hang. The client would be unresponsive forcing the user to end-session lose any changes made.

Solution

This was reported as a bug, VSTS2663. The problem has been isolated to APM versions compiled using release of Dev Express release earlier that Dev Express 17.1.8 (Nov 2017). This is due to a bug in this 3rd party development tool that is exposed only in later versions of Windows 10 when APM was compiled under the version of the tool prior to the bug being fixed (releases 7.8 to 7.11). Users using earlier versions of Windows are not likely to be affected.

Newer versions of APM are compiled using the repaired tool and do not experience the hang even when using later versions of Windows 10.
