Problem Description

User reported that an indicator was still in alarm in the Indicator panel immediately after the Indicator was acknowledged.

Solution

There are several different sources for an Indicator to remain in alarm incorrectly. In this particular case, there is a bug whereby the alarm state change that happens during an acknowledgement is rolled back if the Indicator dialogue is open while the indicator is being acknowledged via right-click on the Indicator view.

On the Site, go to the Indicator view > Indicators tab > by Asset hierarchy subtab. Change the configuration in the panel to "Indicators currently in alarm", expand the hierarchy to find the lowest level asset that is alarming in the hierarchy. Ensure that the asset in question has only one indicator in alarm. Double-click on the indicator to open it, leave the window open and return to the Indicator panel view, right-click on the indicator and acknowledge the alarm. Note that the alarm disappears from the hierarchy and from the configuration. Now close the Indicator window. Return to the Indicator view, note that the Asset and the Indicator are in alarm again but cannot be acknowledged again.

This was reported as a bug VSTS #970302.
