Problem Description

An APM Remote suddenly experienced an outage whereby APM Remote Tablets stopped synchronizing successfully with APM. When reviewed, the xml download packages were corrupted and needed to be regenerated. The xml download packages were deleted manually and the xml download package regeneration was run manually but this was unsuccessful.

Upon review it was found that the user experienced a database outage while the automated xml generation process was transacting, this resulted in the xml download packages being corrupted but, this also corrupted the Remote Download Package Generated SQL because it was in the process of being used when the outage occurred.

Solution

The outage was planned but due to a missed communication, the APM services weren't stopped properly and some, include the remote synchronization process were in transaction when the outage occured. In future the user needs to ensure all APM processes aren't transacting and then stopped prior to executing a database outage.

The correct the corrupted files, firstly, all Remote Download Packages had to have their Generated SQL regenerated using the "Generate Now" button, see lower right corner of this screenshot for the location:

Once the Generated SQL is regenerated, the xml download packages can then be manually regenerated.
