Problem Description

During an APM upgrade spanning several releases, a user experienced an out-of-memory on the database. This error was reported in the upgrade wizard as:

Solution

An out-of-memory error either on the application server, database server or database size allocation during an upgrade will require the user to revert back to the pre-upgrade back-up in all cases. The User's Administrators should first rectify the memory limitation before restoring the database and trying again. Although many errors that occur during the APM upgrade process can be corrected and retried, out-of-memory errors should not be retried even if the condition is rectified. The nature of out-of-memory errors when updating data tables can, and usually do, result in corrupted data that may not be immediately evident.
