Data difference post upgrade cannot load in the datadiff executable

 Product(s):APM Implementation and Performance Management
 Version(s):7
 Environment:N/A
 Area:N/A
 Subarea:N/A

Problem Description

As part of the upgrade process, users and technical services personnel often need to review database changes. For user of older APM release, this was done with a tool called Datadiff.exe which is found in the Bin folder. This tool will compare the data between 2 APM databases including out-of-the-box and custom data tables and columns using the ODBC connection. Although the tool support SQL and Oracle databases, some issues/errors can occur when comparing data between 2 datasources mounted using different Oracle releases.

Solution

The Datadiff.exe still works in most cases up to APM release 7.20 but due to limitations is seldom used anymore and is no longer the tool of choice for data difference comparison. The new tool for examining data differences between versions of APM is there is a better mechanism built into APM Foundation called model changes. It is available to Administrator level users in the Customization Center and offers far more practical views and lists for direct analysis of the differences that users and technical resources are interested in:
