Interop Work Document Change Request comments blank leading to message processing failure in SAP

Problem Description

The Work Document Change Request "Comments" field is blank causing an interop error. Users currently must enter a value in this field but the change status argument does not update the Change request comment, which is wrong. The comment on the Change Status argument is meant to explain why the status of the Change Request is being changed, it is not meant to be the Comment on the Change Request itself. To make it more confusing, the Comment on the Change Status is not even o the Change Status dialog.

Replication steps:

1. In an Interop Environment set up Change Request settings in Work Management

2. Create A Work Document (Work Order, Work Request, or RFW)

3. Send to Interop (SAP).

4. Enter a Change Request on the document(s) created in Step 2.

5. Send to Interop (SAP).

6. Messages error in SEQ - ConfirmChangeWorkRequest queue.

Solution

This has been reported as a bug, VSTS#1178417.

A workaround can be implemented with the help of Services to run a script to make the sure all the Change Request Types have comments set to "Optional".
