Problem Description

An APM user recently updated their document control system address and needed to update the url for all of their attachments.

Solution

Most data in APM is stored in discrete locations and can be updated en-masse using the Replace function if the data can be exposed in a table configuration. However, in some cases, such as when there is a many to many relationship between objects, such as attachments to assets, it is difficult to show all data in one configuration and a script may be needed to update the data directly in the database.

APM Support will not compile scripts for mass data changes, unless there is a data corruption issue related with the base product or upgrade scripts, as these are considered customizations. However, in cases where mass update scripts are required by a user, these custom scripts can be developed by engaging with Bentley's Services department, Cohesive Group.
