Date formatting on SmartClient User Interface

Contributing factors:

Date format on SmartClient UI is based on 2 settings:

  1. On the APM Smart Client Server (SC Server) - Language setting (APM Configuration/Globalization/Language)
    • this setting is used to determine both language and formatting in APM
  2. On the Smart Client Machine (SC Machine) - Windows Regional format selection
    • Windows has separate language and formatting specifications

Behavior:

The SC Machine's Windows Regional format matching the SC Server Language are applied to format dates in the SmartClient application UI.

Examples:

SC Server Language

English (US)

English (US)

SC Machine's

selected Regional format

English (US)

English (Canada)

Region settings  that control UI presentation of date formats

Client’s selected Regional formats including personalization as specified in Regional format

Windows defaults for Regional format = APM Server Language

 Result in UI

English (US) – as personalized by client machine

English (US) – Default Windows formats

Recommendation:

If using multiple Regional Formats in your organization, ensure that there is an SC Server Instance for each Regional Format selection to be supported.

To support multiple Regional formats there must be a SC Server Instance for each Regional Format, with each SC Server having their own SmartClient package.
