Using skill area vs a person

We are using eB 15.5.1 and eB web.  We are evaluating the pros and cons of using skill areas or people for tasks.

I think we should use a person for a finacial review task because they are the person that is suppose to do the review 90% of the time.  They were concerned about the 10% of the time when the review task comes to them when they were on vacation or out sick.  The con of the skill area is that person know has to go through the extra step of accepting the task.

Would it be better to assign the task to specific person and have a back up plan when that person is on vacation?

Is there away for an admin person to delegate it to someone else if that person is out sick or on vacation?

Thanks for your help.

Alex

  • Alex,

It depends how a user or Admin want to see the workflow.

Like you said, if you have one person who looks after financial things then you will assign him directly then it will go in his INbox directly,  but as your second scenario says what if he goes on vacation.

For that we have Skill Area, whwre you can assign same set of permission for finance to one other person and release that task to thatskill area, then that particular task will go to both the persons means the actual person who is on vacation and the person who will act as a backup for him.

Both the ways are safe and secure because if you assign a task to skill area and the backup person accept the task then it will go out from the inbox from wach person who is in that skill area.

    Hope that will help you!

  • Manav,

If a task is assigned to a person or a person has accepted a task through a skill area, is there away for an eB admin to change who the task is assigned too using the eB tools or program?

  • If you assign a task to a person and IF that person dint ACCEPTED it yet then yes you can make the changes without any problem.

But if the task is accepted then I think you cancel a task from Work Order or have to wait till the the person release the task without completing it.
