Audit Trail - track users opening Documents

Hi All

I am building a community in 15.6 that includes the following "audit" requirement:

- Track when users log into the system

- Track which users open a document

When I look through the posted Audit Trial guide, I see lots about create and delete of objects, but nothing about how Users interact with them. Under the "User" Select Object Type in the Audit Trail in eB SMC I find an item called "Logged On", but am not able to make "Tracking Required" and so do not see any Audit entries in the "Audit Details" section of the Person object for my test user.

Any ideas and help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Alistair

  • Hi Alistair,

-About tracking users whose opened documents, have created an enhancement for this issue.
-Some features that are audited will not appear in the UI. For example, when a user logs into the system and logging is enabled to track that, an entry will go into the audit table, but not against the persons audit history within the UI.
If you want to retrieve that info you will need to run some reports on the database.

    Regards,
    Sagar

    Many thanks for the information.

I looked in the database and was able to create an Audit query that displays the "Logged In" action...Fantastic!

However, I am not able to see anything that allows me to record the "user opening a document"...i.e. if the user logs into eB and opens Document 123 to read the content, is there a way to record this action and its date/time stamp?

    Thanks, Alistair
