Troubleshoot Tag Creation Wizard

I am currently testing eB Director 15.6.1 and Engineering Designer 5.4.2 (I think that is the correctr ED rev) in a sandbox environment.  I am having serious difficulty getting the tag creation wizard to work.  I created two templates in Director, and it recognizes those.  However, when i select a template and try to proceed, i get the following error message:

"Connection > GetSystemsGroupId > An attribute specifying the Virtual Item Group Name, called " is required on the Primary Item for the selected template."

I can click "OK" and get past the error message to the next screen which allows me to choose the ID, revision, description, etc.  However, the drop down for the System field is blank.  I can get no further than this.

The documentation for this feature is extremely lacking, and I have exhasuted my limited knowledge of the product.  Can someone please provide some suggestions.

NOTE: We have not officially migrated to tags yet.  Also, I apologize for the lack of screenshots; I am on an air-gapped system and have no access to my work computer from this terminal.

  • Hello Robert,

    Could you please clarify
    1. The UI (Director or ED) on which you are getting this error
    2. Are there any relations with other eB objects defined in your Tag template? If yes please try to create a new tag after removing these related objects.

  • I am getting the error message in ED. I have a couple of related items on my tag template. I will remove them and see what happens. I hope to be able to provide some screenshots today.
  • The following is a screenshot of the error message:

ED allows me to close the message and proceed to the following screen:

However, there is nothing available in the System drop-down, and i do not know how tp populate it.  For reference, here is the tag template that I have in Director:

  • Hi Robert,

To what extent has the community/database you are using for NED been configured? Did you ran the DB scripts for NED and then tried to use using front end (director) to configure it? Or has there been additional configuration done using a Provisioning spreadsheet or have you received any assistance to do so from Professional Services?

I have forwarded your question to a couple of my Professional Services colleagues asking for feedback but I think the problem might be that the Sandbox DB needs further configuration steps to be done for NED . This is usually done with the assistance of Professional Services.

I will let you know once I get a response from Professional Services on your specific error.

  • Roberto,

Unfortunately, I am unable to answer most of your questions. Our eB Admin recently retired, and I am just picking up where she left off. I am not sure how much configuration was put into the Sandbox. To be honest, running scripts is well outside of my scope of expertise. However, we do have a new IT guy that we are quickly bringing up to speed. Together, I think the both of us can get this thing running. If this is a configuration issue, is there any documentation on how to configure a system to work with NED? Thus far, I have found product documentation sparse.

    Thanks,

    Garth
