Hi,
When you checkout a document and check it back in the system will create a backup of the file in the Copies object.
By default the file created maintains its original name but has (eB Historic 001) appended.
This is all fine up until someone wants to open it however when they do they get the following message:
“Could not launch the file *****, your computer does not seem to have a program that can open it.”
This is because true file extension is now obscured by the (eB Historic 001) label.
Is there any way to change this?
Hi Andy, on what Version of eB are you on?
Hi Carma - 15.4.1
Hi Carma,
Did you use Director or the Web to test this? It's the Web that has the problem.
I don't think running the maintenance scripts will help. The browser knows to open a file ending .docx with Microsoft Word, it does not know however what application to open a file ending in .docx (eB Historic ###)
Here is the list of files:
Here is the error I get when trying to open the 'eB Historic 002' file
Hope this clarifies.
Hi Andy, I have tested on both and still cannot replicate. Let me see if I can find a solution for this issue.
How odd. Can you provide some screenshots so that I can try and identify the differences between your working system and our broken system?
Andy, please go to your File Copies and see what the file extension is. Seem there is something changing the file extension to copy 0002 and that should not happen
Thanks for the image. Its not clear from that whether the copy you're using actually has any historic files? Can you check the document out / in a few times. This should then generate the historic files.
Thanks,
Andy.
Hi Andy, could you create a Service Request for this. It is my last day with Bentley, and I will no longer be able to assist. I have tested and still cannot replicate.
Kind regards
Carma
