SQL database migration.

Question

we need to move our SQL database to a new server and while doing this we would like to update our SQL version from 2012 to a newer version 
 we are on eb version 15.5.1 and SQL 2012, are there any guides to help move a database 
 Can we use a later version of SQL? 
 We do plan to upgrade our version of eB this year but the current server supporting the SQL database is having issues

In the files section of this site, there is a document for setting up an eB test environment. It is for version 15 and based on the assumption that you are using a copy of a prod database, so this is very close to what you need. In your case, it doesn't sound like you'll be changing the application server, so that portion won't need to be performed.

 I know it's been working for you so far in 2012 but.I should add that version 15.5 is only supported up to SQL Server 2008, so any later versions of SQL Server could be problematic.
