We have just started testing our new installation of 16.7.56.7.
when using the Director client, I am getting the error message "an item with the same key has already been added" at several different places, but then action is completed
such as - show all attributes, create new from template, copy existing
Is this a problem with our installation? If so how do we fix it?

I have seen this before if you have an attribute that is setup as a lookup. I would look at the queries for these attributes as if the query is returning the same value more than once you can see this error.
I get the error on documents that have no attribute data entered, as soon as you select "show all" the error appears.
I do have many attribute with picklists (fixed value) but none that use queries.
This error does not happen on our current production version that has the same attributes
After further investigation when showing all attributes "Drawing Type" is the last one to be displayed and I can not select a value into this attribute. There is one "char_value" for this attribute that has no data. Could this be causing the problem?

The problem was caused by one of the 'lookup' attributes having a custom query that returned non-unique values. Updating that query to return unique values resolved the issue.
