Automate process of "Update Number"

I have created a calculated mask on a template.

'WKR_ORDR-' + Attributes["Global", "WORK ORDER NO"].Value

Because a skeleton document is created from the document template first the default mask is used when you first create a document from the template.

You are forced to click on "Update Number" to force the system to recalculate the number using the calculated mask.

Is there a way to automate this process?

Can this be automated through extended behavior and automation Configuration?

If so can someone point me in the direction of how?
