I have a strange occurrence at a client.
They search for documents in eB and then the results screen is black.
I have never come across this before.
I was on the users computer this morning and did a few searches and I didn't get the problem, but she now gets it.
I've seen black screen in Director before and in my case it was related to audit topic, if more than 2000 entries in audit topic was created eB Director 15.5 just displayed black screen, and in version 15.4 crashed because of huge amount of RAM Director started consuming.
I’ve did some digging regarding the black screen in Search and I’ve found that there is a bug raised in V15.5. I could not replicate this issue on 15.4 as in V15.4 Director was crashing instead of displaying black screen.
Let us know is that the same issue you are having if not let us know all detailed steps how to replicate it and what version o eB you are using.
1. In eB Director go to Search section and execute a quick search for all documents ( use wildcard * as search criteria)2. Verify, the documents found are displayed in separate 'Results for Documents' window (Search Results.png is attached)
3. In the top of the same window press Auto Hide button4. Verify, the results are hidden.5. Change the quick search object from Documents e.g. to Change Requests with the same criteria (*). Press ENTER.Verify, 'Results for Change Requests' window opens, but it is black - no results are displayed. You need to restart eB Director, if you want to see the correct search results.
This is a new installation of V15.4.1 with approximately 62 documents in the system.
The black screen is also intermittent, I am at the client next week and I will do some tests on their machines.
At the moment it is limited to two users who are using HP machines.
I don’t think that it’s related to document amount in your system. I do think that it’s a bug but it will be related to step combination after which Director “crashes’. I was able to crash director by setting search result pane to Auto Hide and then searching for other items.
Do you use auto hide in your case ?
Has the black screen error bug been logged and do you have a TS number for it?
I can confirm that the auto hide is the issue causing the black screen.
Yes, it was logged as a bug and TS number: #10208.
I will update TS with new information.
