By default when pressing on uploaded file in eB WEB some files are opened by ViewCafe application, some opened in Internet Explorer and some in native application. In this Wiki article will be explained how to set default open application for particular files.
Note: this change will affect all Users
1. Navigate to your virtual directory (by default it’s located under drive:\inetpub\wwwroot\WebName) and locate file web.config. <2. Open this file with text editor (notepad or other application). 3. Locate <MimeTypeMappings> tag as in picture below
4. Insert <add> new tag or change existing one under <MimeTypeMappings> tag. New Tag is created from two attributes, mime type and handler and should have same structure as default ones.
4.1. There are three handler types.
handler="1D89C853-64D0-489c-8981-8C3882A50400" – This handler will use Internet Explorer to open file. handler="630A03AE-2C79-4153-9167-4F57B117DACF" – This handler will use Native application to open files. handler= "001D71D9-BFFE-407a-B628-CD8481C2A068" – This handler will use Spicer Viewer to open files.
4.2 Mime types are picked from Director > System Administration > Maintain List values > Electronic File Format
5. Save changes and restart “Internet Information Services”
Example: I would like that word files (.docx) would open in native (MS Word) application.
In first step check Director how mime type is described for .docx extension.
In second step I would create a tag in web.config file using handler with id: 630A03AE-2C79-4153-9167-4F57B117DACF. My Tag should look like this
<add mimeType="application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document" handler="630A03AE-2C79-4153-9167-4F57B117DACF " />
In last step I would restart IIS for changes to take the effect.
