Cannot launch or check out files in eBweb

Problem Description:

User would get the following errors when attempting to launch or check out files from eBweb.

(Launch)

I'm sorry, but 'C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\Bentley\eB.Control.IEControl\...' could not be launched because an error occurred. The system could not launch the file because it received a DDE error from the application which owns it.

(Check Out)

I'm sorry, there was a problem performing the action 'Download to 'C:\eBCheckOut...(your checkout folder), an error occurred during the transfer. Error: Access is denied.

Cause:

The eB website being accessed is not recognized/treated as an intranet site.

Solution:

Use the following steps to add the eB website to the local intranet zone:

  1. Run internet explorer and login to eB
  2. Click the Tools -> Internet options menu
  3. Click the Security tab
  4. Select Local Intranet and click the Sites button
  5. Click the Advanced button
  6. Then click the Add button to add the eB website to the zone
  7. Click Close, OK, then Apply
  8. Exit internet explorer and login to eB again

User should now be able to launch and check out files.
