Compatibility issues with IE 11 and eB version 15.X eB.Control.IE

      Product(s): AssetWise Client
      Version(s): 15.04.01.325
      Environment: Windows 10, IE 11
      Area: Web Client
      Subarea: Active X Control

    Problem

The following error/message received on Windows 10, IE 11 environment when accessing eB Version 15.x web site:
installed the eB Web Control32 eB.Control.IEControl.dll - File version 6.2.1.325 Product Name:  eb 15.4.1, Product version:  15.4.1.325.
After installing the Web Control32 with IE 11.0.42, this active x control is failing to render pdf files (In some cases the problem does not occur consistently.)

    Solution

The following steps were needed to resolve the reported fail case:

    1.      add <web site name.com> (where the application is running) to the IE 11 compatibility view settings.

    2.      A security policy is set for IE 11 and requires a verified publisher cert. for the Bentley System’s Active X control (This was required due to defining the website in the “trusted sites”).

    3.      TURN OFF Active X filtering on regular (computers) clients – Note: it appeared to not matter if this was set on a Surface tablet running the Windows 10.

Note: Figure 1 can be used to the Add-ons and the notification that will be receive when first accessing the eB Web site.
fig. 1 notification and messages you will receive on IE when first accessing the to install the eB ActiveX component
