Problem Description:

Using eBweb, I get the following error when attempting to add/upload a file to a document.

I'm sorry, there was a problem performing the action 'Upload...' an error occurred during the transfer.

Error: Server Message: 'The file could not be added due to an error from the server. The error was:
'There is no "non-external" Repository in the relevant Repository Group. If no Repository Group was specified then please ensure that the default is correct."

HTTP Error: 500

Cause:

The problem may well be as the error message indicates, where the storage repository is not configured properly. In this case please follow the eB System Management Console Guide to  configure it.

But if you confirm that your storage is working (for example other eB users can add/upload files), then the error message may be caused by the fact that the user does not have permissions to edit the document.

Solution:

Have the user login to Director and attempt the same upload. If he/she gets an error (as expected) make sure the error message indicates that it is a permission issue, rather than a storage issue. Grant the appropriate permissions to the user to avoid the error.

Please note  in version 16.4.2, the error message in eBweb does tell the correct cause of a failed file upload, if the user lacks permissions to do so.
