Problem Description:
User wants to change the value for the Remote Port property of an eB service, but gets a "value is out of range" error.
Cause:
While a wide range of Remote Port values are valid, the eB Service Properties screen accepts only a certain range of values.
Solution:
Change the Remote Port value by editing the respective config file. The steps below assume the Mail Distribution service needs to use Remote Port 25.
- In eBSMC stop the mail distribution service
- In windows explorer, go to C:\Program Files\Bentley\eB\Server
- Make a copy of eB.Service.MailDistribution.exe.config as a backup
- Edit eB.Service.MailDistribution.exe.config in notepad
- locate the line <add key="remoting_port" value="18388" />
- change 18388 to 25
- save the eB.Service.MailDistribution.exe.config file
- In eBSMC restart the mail distribution service
