Problem Description:
User gets a "Failed to transfer" error message when trying to upload a file using eBweb. More error text below:
Server Message: '<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML1.0
Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
...
Cause:
The file being uploaded has one or more special characters (e.g. "#" or "&") in the filename. These special characters are valid in a windows filename but not in eB because they may cause problems in other eB functionalities/operations.
Solution:
Avoid using the following characters, which are forbidden in URL paths, in the filenames of any files that will be uploaded to eB.
" * / : ? | < > & # ..
Workaround:
From V15 onwards, a proper error message will display telling users the above special characters cannot be used.
