Problem Description:
User gets the following error when attempting to open some excel files:
- Excel cannot open the file because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.
Cause:
The error has been reported by a user attempting to open/launch an excel file with macro enabled using Internet Explorer.
Solution:
Use Chrome to login to ALIMweb to access the same document and open the file.
Workaround:
For I.E. users - do not click the file name to launch the file directly into excel. Instead, use the File Actions (…) menu and select the "Get local copy" option to save the file to a folder first, before opening the file from the destination folder.
