Problem Description:
After changing one or more options in the Product Activation Wizard of the License Management Tool (LMT) and then click the Finish button, user gets the following error:
- Failed to contact the license server
Because of the error the change(s) made in the wizard will not be saved.
Cause:
One of the values specified in the wizard (or the combination of them) is not valid. Or, as it has been observed, the LMT is in a state where no values can be saved from the frontend until one of them is changed.
Solution:
Manually change one of the values in the registry.
- Run Regedit with administrative privileges
- Go to the following key:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Bentley\Licensing\1.1
- Double click the variable you wish to change (e.g. Server, UseSSL)
- Enter the new value
- Click OK to save
