MAI Inspections for Sections or Street

I am currently writing the processes for mobile working with the aim to use Bentley’s new MapCapture software. We have been using maintenance manager for 10 years as a text system without using the mapping interface. We no longer use Structures Manager, UKPMS or Schemas Manager.

Our inspectors will be given a zone to inspect containing a list of streets. Ideally I would like a level 3 style structure for the inspectors same as the street works system. The defect may be linked to the actual section but does not need to be seen by the inspector or the insurance reports.

Currently – inspections against sections of a street

The below green street would be split into 6 sections all due for inspection.

Any missed sections would be easily identified.

Issuing one zone of 80 streets would become a zone of 400 section based on 5 sections per street. This becomes a much larger administration task and confusing for all involved.

 

When producing S58 defence due to not having a no defects found for the entire street one would be needed for each section.

 

Building a program of inspections becomes much more difficult due to the increase in sections.

Much like the street works side the works are displayed at street level not section (ESU).

  • Apology’s if I was unclear. I am trying to determine the best way of scheduling and monitoring inspections across our network suitable for the new mobile solution.
    Our current schedule is produced in discoverer looking at the nominated sections maintenance category, inspection interval (just over 2000 streets) and the management reports look at the last time each was inspected.
    The difficulty I am facing is the defects and maintenance category relates to the section record not the street record. To manage a schedule for all the sections instead of streets would be overly complicated due to the volume involved.
    I am hoping there is an existing function I am unaware of to set and track these inspections or the ability to log the inspection against a level 3 street instead of a section.
